Instructional Assistant Saint Leo the Great Catholic School Fairfax, Virginia Position Summary Saint Leo the Great Catholic School seeks a dedicated, faith-filled, and student-centered Instructional Assistant to support teachers in providing a high-quality Catholic education. The Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with classroom teachers to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth, and positive social development in a nurturing Catholic school environment. Essential Responsibilities Classroom Support Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation. Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic concepts and skills. Support differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers. Help maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment. Student Supervision Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned times. Promote appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values. Assist students with organization, classroom routines, and transitions throughout the school day. Administrative Support Prepare classroom materials, copies, displays, and bulletin boards. Assist with record keeping, grading, and data collection as directed by the teacher. Support communication efforts with families and school staff when requested. Faith Formation Support and model the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church. Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities. Foster a respectful and caring environment rooted in Gospel values. Qualifications High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families. Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education. Practicing Catholic preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift instructional materials and supplies. Ability to supervise students in both indoor and outdoor settings.
