Job Description
The purpose of the class is to assist the Aquaplex staff in planning and conducting summer day camps, summer splash park activities, and other recreational programs offered throughout the year. The class works under supervision according to set procedures.
Typical Task:
Lead and assist with games, sports, arts & crafts, and group activities Support summer camps and splash park programs Encourage positive behavior and help resolve conflicts Maintain and organize supplies and equipment Enforce facility rules and ensure a safe environment Communicate with children, parents, and team members effectively Serve as a positive role model promoting teamwork and inclusionMinimum Requirements:
High school graduation or GED preferred. Knowledge of rules and procedures of a variety of games, athletic sports, arts, and crafts is preferred. Experience working in the group care of children is preferred. Must be at least 16 years of age or older at the time of hire. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services check and background check related to this position before any offer of employment or promotion (18 and older).Additional Requirements:
Must successfully pass First Aid/CPR/AED training within 30 days of hire. Must have strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. Requires effective communication with internal and external customers. Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
