Teacher's Assistant Toras Chaim - 5.0 Portsmouth, VA Job Details Full-time 9 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description First Grade Classroom Assistant - Churchland Our small, private school is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant to support our First Grade teacher and help create a positive, nurturing learning environment for our students.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lessons. Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills. Help students stay focused, engaged, and on task throughout the school day. Support classroom management and promote positive student behavior. Prepare, organize, and distribute classroom materials and supplies. Assist with classroom setup, displays, bulletin boards, and organization. Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other activities as assigned. Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment. Communicate professionally and respectfully with teachers, staff, and students when appropriate. Support school programs, special events, field trips, and classroom celebrations. Reinforce school policies, procedures, and values. Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters. Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Commitment to fostering a warm and supportive learning environment. High school diploma required.
