The Lead Teacher provides high-quality care and education, implements age-appropriate learning experiences, supports children's social-emotional development, and builds positive relationships with families and fellow staff members. Key Responsibilities Provide attentive supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development. Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment. Establish and maintain consistent daily routines and classroom management practices. Observe, assess, and document children's progress and developmental milestones. Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's growth, achievements, and needs. Maintain accurate classroom records and required documentation. Ensure compliance with all Virginia licensing regulations and academy policies. Foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members. Guide and mentor assistant teachers and classroom support staff. Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout the day. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or related experience preferred. Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting. Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day. Must meet all Virginia background check and licensing requirements.
