Job Summary:
The Bridges Afterschool and Summer Program at Northfield Elementary School runs from July 6th to August 7th, from 8:00-5:00 daily. The program is seeking an Assistant Coordinator to join our team in a full time capacity, to help lead our Summer Program. Continued part-time work during the school-year may be available. The program serves 70-80 students daily. The Assistant Coordinator plays a role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by managing attendance, supporting classroom and enrichment activities, addressing student behaviors, and helping facilitate a safe, engaging environment for campers and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining accurate records for students/campers prior to the program beginning. Assist the Program Coordinator in organizing and delivering staff orientation and training prior to the program beginning. Build meaningful relationships with both campers and staff, serving as a positive role model. Support the safety and well-being of all campers at all times. Mediate interpersonal conflicts among campers and/or staff. Handle high-intensity situations appropriately. Take and maintain accurate attendance; follow up with families of absent students. Actively participate in camp-wide programming, including events, hikes, swimming, and group activities. Monitor classroom staffing and fill in where needed to ensure coverage. Support student behavior using a defined behavior response matrix. Be well-versed in all emergency procedures and follow them as needed. Ensure proper use and care of school facilities and equipment. Collaborate closely with the Program Coordinator on shared responsibilities. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned. Serve as acting Program Coordinator in their absence.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Experience in education or childcare required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to commit to a regular schedule and work effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to undergo a background check as a condition of employment.
- Open-water lifeguard certification is a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible and supportive attitude.
