Job Description

Job Overview The Bridges Afterschool and Summer Program at Northfield Schools runs from July 6th to August 7th, from 8:00-3:00 daily. The program is seeking Paraprofessional Support staff to join our team in a full or part time capacity. In this role, you will typically work one-on-one with an assigned student, helping them successfully access and participate in summer camp enrichment activities. Students may require support for a variety of reasons, including behavioral, developmental, or medical needs. Bridges offers a wide range of engaging programming, including arts and crafts, STEM activities, physical education, outdoor learning, and more. As a paraprofessional, your role is to provide consistent, responsive support so that your student can fully engage, build independence, and have a positive, inclusive afterschool experience. Responsibilities Implement instructional and behavioral programs for students under the general direction of the program coordinator and/or special education teachers. This includes working with students both individually and in small groups. Assist in developing, compiling, and organizing instructional materials. Adapt general program material/methods as appropriate to meet the needs of students, in consultation with program coordinator and/or special education teacher. Play a supportive role in evaluating student progress, difficulties, and needs. Participate in developing formats for student instruction and teaching strategies, as well as other assigned activities. Participate in various activities and field trips with students. Meet assigned students' needs as required. May include behavioral and/or other life skills. Ensure completion of routine communications, such as parent logs. Assist students as required. Attend and participate in all relevant training sessions, meetings, and professional growth activities as requested and/or required. Requirements Prior experience working with children in education is preferred. Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management/deescalation techniques to support positive student interactions. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly by applying basic first aid skills; CPR certification is a plus. Familiarity with early childhood education principles, childhood development stages, and special education accommodations and modifications. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents or guardians. A positive attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for growing young learners.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
