Title:
Early Childhood Classroom Assistant (ages 3 to 6)
Shift:
7:30AM to 12:30PM (Mondays to Fridays) - Non-Negotiable and able to work throughout the entire year including breaks and Summer program.
Starting Rate:
$20.50 (with $200 bonus after 3 months probation)

We support each individual student in building a foundation for life-long learning in preparation for future educational endeavors. Our school has been continuously growing since its opening in 1966. We are looking for Assistant Teachers to provide classroom support for Montessori Head Teachers who are guiding children in our Toddler, Early Childhood/Kindergarten, and Elementary Programs. Support would be demonstrated by preparing organized classrooms with beautiful materials, in a peaceful environment, designed to encourage children to explore and discover the joy of learning. MAIN Reports To:
Primary Program Director Typical daily tasks include: Greet caregivers/guardians, and assist child(ren) arriving into the classrooms including late arrivals and drop-offs/pick-ups. Assist in all rooms where required during school operating hours such as covering for breaks/lunches Leading a group with stories, movement, songs, and other activities Assisting with snack preparation Engaging in conversation with children to increase their opportunities for language Aiding children only if necessary, using Montessori method Using positive discipline techniques to help students gain self-discipline and resolution skills Cleaning and sanitizing the classrooms and tools for learning Following safety procedures and supervising children including BMS policies and protocols Assist in other duties if required
Requirements:
Able to lift up to 25lbs Able to stand for long periods of time Passionate working with children Patient, calm, and understanding Team player Strong attendance, punctuality, and flexibility Montessori Certificate is preferred but not required for this role Complete DCYF requirements (Portable Background Check, CPR/FA, BBP, Food Permit, TB, Measles, Covid-19 vaccinations, 30 Hours of Basic Child Care Course, and yearly 10 STARs continuing education hours) Bellevue Montessori School is accredited by the American Montessori Society and has been an established leader in Montessori education on Seattle's Eastside since it first opened in 1966.
