Job Description

We are recruiting for a Special Education Paraeducator to serve Kalama Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is 32.5 hours per week, school year schedule. Estimated start date August 2026.
Salary:
The salary for this position is $21.27 - $26.31 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. General Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Paraeducator is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings. The Special Education Paraeducator, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP) assists the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation; one-on-one and small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment; and communication with parents and staff.
Essential Functions Include:
Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings. Supervise students. Collect data and report student progress. Maintain accurate data collection records. Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED. Must meet one of the following educational requirements: Associate's Degree OR 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university; OR Passing score of 455 on the ParaPro Assessment; OR Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program.
