PSE Salary Schedule for Instructional Para Pro This position is paid by timecard submitted by the 10th of each month. The 2026 Wahluke Summer School Model is to provide in-person instruction to Kinder-8th grade students in reading, mathematics and enrichment, while fostering academic growth, building student confidence, and creating engaging learning experiences that prepare students for success in the upcoming school year.

7:30 am - 3:30 pm
Monday-Thursday:
shift begin and end times will be staggered to accommodate length of work day.
Duties and responsibilities:
Tutor students individually or in small groups. Conference with the supervising teacher to monitor student progress. Assist in compiling test data and keep required documentation and records. Complete required records in a timely manner. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Perform routine tasks in monitoring and assisting student progress in classroom and other school activities. Provide age appropriate, engaging, interactive learning. Proctor tests, quizzes, drills and other exercises designed by instructional staff. Use computer and software skills to enter and access a variety student records; may provide virtual and distance learning. Communicate in a respectful, friendly and helpful manner with parents as requested or assigned, keeping in mind that communications about a student's educational performance and progress lies with the instructor. Aid students with special learning needs. May assist students with clothing, movement, and toilet usage, diapering, personal hygiene and overall custodial care. Assist staff in the development of teaching aids and materials. Supervise students in halls, study halls, libraries, playgrounds, learning centers, cafeterias, transportation areas and crossing guard area. Included work outside in all types of weather. Assist in organizing and monitoring recreational activities. Accompany groups of students on field trips and other outings. Perform basic clerical tasks for teachers (catalog, sort, file, assemble, reproduce and distribute classroom materials, check out equipment) Attend and participate in trainings during and outside of regular shift and which may require travel. Provide social and emotion care of all students. May provide attention to the needs of disabled or handicapped students. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Bilingual, Bi-literate Spanish preferred. Excellent communication skills. Interpersonal skills, being able to relate to students and adults, flexibility. Experience and/or Knowledge of language development, reading, math instructional strategies. History of reliability, dependability, and punctuality. Computer skills. Positive attitude. Be professional in action and appearance. Able to model appropriate professional behavior. Ability to solve practical problems, apply appropriate judgment and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to maneuver to perform the functions associated with activities including, kneeling, bending, squatting, lifting. Expected to wear appropriate and safe attire and grooming for the learning environment. Ability to work collaboratively, respectively and civilly with coworkers, students, families and community. Preference extended to candidates available for the entire length of assignment. Passing required State and FBI background checks. Able and expected to attend work as scheduled.
REQUIRED
Education:
Must meet state federal guidelines for Instructional Assistants by having an AA degree or 72 quarter hours or 48 semester college credits or documentation of successfully passing the state approved assessment.
Physical Requirements :
This position typically requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move can carry objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
