$21 per hour Job Summary This is a year-round two or three day a week position. With 1 to 2 week school breaks in April, June, August, November, and December. As an assistant teacher, you will: Work closely with your classroom Lead Teacher and Leadership team. Assistant Teachers will be prepared to take the Lead Teacher role when the Lead Teacher is absent or otherwise engaged. Duties will include but are not limited to: Be a collaborative member of the teaching team. Teach and plan the curriculum for your classroom with other members of the teaching team. Implement provided curriculum with Coyote Mentoring learning platform. Assist in responsibility for the safety of your classroom and wellbeing of all students Manage risk in an outdoor setting and proactively participate in daily and continual risk assessment. Partner with the Lead Teacher to collaboratively address the social, emotional, physical, and mental needs of your students, centered around a respectful relationship with nature. Seek support for student challenges from leadership when needed, report on progresses and challenges at routine meetings. Assist in the ongoing assessment of students. Assist Lead Teacher with family communication, support, and student data tracking Collaboratively work with families of the program to meet needs, address concerns, and give reports, as needed at the end of the day and in the bi-annual parent teacher conferences. Assist in planning and implementing three seasonal transition gatherings that promote connection between class families. Assist Lead Teacher in managing classroom and site needs. Support overall planning for equipment and supply needs including packing, cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing class materials in the Administrative Offices. Work with your teaching team to set up and take down the classroom daily, including canopies in wet/cold weather. Check for safety hazards, teach, and any gear left behind. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Have some experience teaching children 3-7 years of age in environmental education programs, school, childcare or preschool settings. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, including loading and unloading classroom materials, moving sticks and logs, and moving children. Carry a backpack that weighs up to 30lbs for extended periods of time. Must have personal transportation and be willing to transport program supplies as needed. First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to obtain. Be able to pass a background check, have your own transportation and cell phone.
Job Title:
Early Learning Assistant Teacher Reports to the Leadership Team.
Weekly Hours:
Staff are on site to run classes 9:00am-2:00/3:00pm Monday-Friday; end time dependent on class being taught . All teaching teams must establish consistent office hours for program administration including planning and prep. Required to attend 1 hour bi-weekly staff meetings as established by the core teaching team. All teachers required to maintain a first aid and toileting kit, kept on hand during all programs, replenishing from program stock when necessary.
Compensation:
This is an hourly position, pay range is $19.50 - $21/hr
DOE Paid Time Off:
1 hour accrued for every 20 hours of work (to be used at your discretion)
