Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant

Full Time, 10 months Overall Responsibilities The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for Early Childhood Education teacher's assistant at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of a teacher assistant at Life Christian Academy is to assist the teacher in teaching each student to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs. Principle Responsibilities Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness Assist Teacher with daily class management Perform daily duties to help teacher with running lessons and activities Support Teacher's plan and lessons Communicate well with Teacher and Director about any issues or needs in classroom Model Biblical principles in making choices to impact students Faithfully support Life Center Church and its ministries Use class time well with activities that engage students' attention and demonstrate a clear purpose Assist in the completion of paperwork including academic progress reports, complete inventories of classroom equipment/supplies/books, records of attendance, and end of year debriefing evaluation forms In relation to students, the Teacher's Assistant is expected to: Establish a climate of love and care, define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate correcting, counseling, and role modeling Maintain proper classroom discipline, take care of minor problems personally and refer major problems to the princip In professional growth the Teacher's Assistant is expected to: Respectfully submit and be loyal to the constituted authority of the school, take responsibility for all tasks related to the classroom, parent communication and the broader school community, Work constructively with colleagues and administration by contribution ideas and listening, Observe Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary Maintain STARS, Merit, and professional development programs Attend and participate in staff devotions, student chapels, teacher's meetings, staff/student retreats, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned Participate in Professional Learning Community efforts In Community relations the teacher is expected to: Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus Other duties as assigned Role Competencies Demonstrates a passion for Christian education Knowledge of basic academic subjects Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to deal with students in a warm and confident manner Demonstrates attention to detail and follow tasks through to completion Ability to organize tasks and activities and set priorities within established parameters Adaptable to schedule or other changes affecting planned schedule or events Willingness and ability to follow directions Certifications and Licensure First Aid/CPR Possess or immediately willing to obtain: Merit Account Valid TB Test 30 hours of basic STARS Training Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Experience in Early Childhood Education Cultural Attributes Required Passionate Personal Relationship with Jesus Biblical Ethics & Integrity Role Competent Stewardship Teamwork Minded Adapti-Positive Mission Focused Self-Developer Helpful Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibility. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand; walk; crouch; stoop; sit (including sitting on the floor); use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Safely handle typical chemicals used to clean and sanitize in a commercial setting. Travel Other than travel to and from the worksite, it is not anticipated except as may be necessary to attend offsite training or conference. Exact schedule between the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm and will be specified at the start of the school year. Compensation Range $19.00 - $21.00/hour depending on education and experience Supervisor Early Childhood Education Director
