Assist in daily instruction and behavior interventions for specific students on caseload (70%) Provide one-on-one or small group support during classroom activities and implement behavior management strategies to address individual student needs. Students may have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or disabilities. Collect data on interventions to help teachers continuously improve instruction and behavior plans for the students you support Maintain detailed records of interventions and their outcomes and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Provide behavioral, social-emotional, and academic intervention for students in alignment with student support plans (IEP, Behavior Intervention Plan, Tier 2 Supports, etc.) Follow individualized plans to address behavioral challenges and promote positive social interactions and support academic skill development through targeted interventions and differentiated instruction. Monitor and track progress and work with the team to adjust interventions as needed to meet student goals. Supervise assigned students as necessary and ensure student safety Maintain a safe and supportive environment for students during instructional and non-instructional periods and implement safety protocols and procedures in accordance with school guidelines. Provide supervision during transitions, lunchtime, and other activities to prevent accidents and conflicts. Support scholars with activities of daily living as needed (including things such as toileting, transitioning between classes, and safe play during recess, etc.) (20%) Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting and hygiene, as outlined in their support plans and facilitate smooth transitions between classes and activities to minimize disruptions. Promote safe and inclusive play during recess by monitoring interactions and intervening as necessary. Other duties as assigned Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching throughout the day. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) with occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds). The employee must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Work is primarily inside but has daily responsibilities outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather). Required Qualifications Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or; Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment completed an apprenticeship program, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council Preferred Qualifications Any experience working with youth ages 4-11 Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students License/Certification Must have or obtain a Crisis Prevention Institute training certification Must have or be eligible to obtain a CPR certification Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification Non negotiables Must have or be eligible to obtain an academic transcript Must pass a fingerprint and background check Complete safeschools trainings What We Offer Competitive pay and generous paid time off package including paid holidays, vacation and personal time; Up to $10,500 in financial support towards a teacher certification preparation program; Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability benefits; Retirement account with employer contributions; Free mental health support + more through our employee assistance program; Growth pathways for increased levels of leadership.
