Schedule:
Monday-Friday (8:00am-3:30pm)
Responsibilities, Tasks and Duties:
  • Provide direct classroom support in a dual language classroom
  • With direction from the certified Spanish or bilingual teacher, the bilingual assistant will deliver academic content in Spanish and English
  • With direction from the certified Spanish or bilingual teacher, the bilingual assistant will support and deliver instruction in language development in both Spanish and English
  • Assist with character development and implementation of all Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) activities in the classroom, outside the classroom, and on the playground
  • Support the bilingual teacher by evaluating student writing or mathematics work and entering the grades into the computer system
  • Communicate with parents or other community members in person or over the phone
  • Interpret at parent/teacher conferences
  • Interpret at large school meetings that occur during the regular school and after school hours
  • Translate important school documents
  • Help parents get involved in school activities
  • Supervise students at recess, before, and after school, and at other times as specified by administration
  • Attend building meetings and professional development
  • Provide clerical support
  • Other duties as designated by administration
Qualifications:
  • Two years of postsecondary training in elementary education or bilingual education
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish
  • Strong demonstrated ability to work with students and families
  • Preferences exist for individuals having demonstrated understanding of school processes
Education Required:
