The Superintendent reserves authority to assign additional duties and responsibilities as necessary within the scope of the position.Position Summary:
This position proactively aligns with the District's mission, goals, strategic initiatives, continuous improvement plan and evolving priorities, in accordance with District policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Responsible for assisting with classroom instruction, supervising students during activities, preparing materials, and providing individualized support while promoting a positive, inspiring, respectful, and safe environment for all students and staff.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Fosters a sense of community and a positive, collaborative environment that promotes trust and respect among staff, students, families, and the District. Maintains effective, regular, good communication and collaboration with students and staff. Maintains high standards of conduct and safety with students and staff in accordance with District Board Policies and applicable federal, state and local laws. Assists with supervision of students in the classroom. Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual needs, interests, and abilities. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling. Reads to students, listens to reading and participates in other forms of oral communication with students. Assists with special needs of physically disabled students. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher. Assists with general housekeeping duties. Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.Secondary Functions and Responsibilities:
Participates in team meetings and other such meetings as are required or appropriate. Participates in inservice training programs as assigned. May serve as back-up to other staff in their absence as necessary.Qualifications, Education, Experience and Other Licensure Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum three years of related work experience, Or, three years of college education, Or, completion of two-year program in child care and development Must meet academic standards of quality by passing (8th grade or higher) the formal state or local assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics: demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instruction readiness, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates ethical conduct and confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment and models culturally responsive practices. Works effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding in the area of responsibilities and seeks new ways of performing the job to be more effective and efficient. Demonstrates exceptional oral and written communication skills with students and staff. Identifies course of action without continual direction. Ability to effectively plan, organize, and manage time. Assumes responsibility for continual professional growth. Accurately maintain records and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Learn and adapt quickly as situations change. Demonstrate creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Stays informed regarding policies, events, students' needs, and other information related to job responsibilities. Flexibility in schedule may be required.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This role has frequent contact with students and members of the community. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversation and is required to utilize communication skills, such as speaking and listening. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk at regular and extended intervals throughout the workday. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Essential functions require a high level of concentration and attention to detail.
