Special Education SALARY:
Salary based on experience and education level per TCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation. Pay scale can be found at the following link: https://aptg.co/00vKHP
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be or have been classified in the category or must pass the state required exam for such positions. Aide is required to have restraint training Must be able to lift 75 pounds
RESPONSIBILITIES, FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES 1.
Under supervision of licensed teacher, prepare for classroom activities. 2. Meet the bus and greet each child as they arrive. 3. Help the children to learn to care for their own personal belongings. 4. Assist the teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and while loading and unloading buses. 5. Assist with recess and necessary "extra" trips. 6. Handle routine interruptions and provide assistance on occasions when the teacher is unavoidably occupied elsewhere. 7. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. 8. Assist the teacher in the development of student self-discipline through reinforcement of positive behavior. 9. Assist the teacher by operating office and audio-visual equipment. 10. Assist during instructional times with activities such as drill work, reading, story telling, small group functions, as well as assists students at individual station activities. 11. Work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. 12. Assist individual children in need of special education, special needs and/or physical needs. 13. Accompany teacher on home visits. 14. Assist in general cleaning such as disinfecting toys, mats, etc. 15. Evaluate the day's work with the teacher and assist in making plans for the following day. 16. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher. 17. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies. 18. Assist the teacher in the use of all available computer hardware and software. 19. Assist the students in the use of maintenance of all available computer hardware and software. 20. Perform such other tasks or assume such other responsibilities as the Superintendent or immediate supervisor may assign from time to time.
