Full Job Description Who We Are:
Welcome to Better Than Average (BTA) Tutoring, your trusted local peer tutoring agency in Montgomery, Alabama. We specialize in helping K-12 students build confidence and excel in foundational concepts covered in the classroom, homework, and test preparation. Proudly recognized as the Best Tutoring Service in Montgomery for the past two years and named a Top Tutoring Center for three consecutive years, we've conducted over 20,000 tutoring sessions, totaling more than 800,000 hours of support. BTA was established with a mission to boost student confidence and improve test scores. As we continue to expand, we are excited to invite more passionate individuals to join our team as peer tutors, provided they meet the criteria outlined below.

Modern office setting Growth opportunities We are looking for Peer Tutors who: Have a proven track-record of excelling academically in your own academic journey (Honor's classes, Advanced Placement courses, Magnet, etc.) Enjoy working with and teaching both younger and older students (Pre-K through 12th grade) Are dependable, driven, and patient Have a passion for mentoring and are eager to learn Will bring positivity and determination to work each day Our peer tutors lead one-on-one (or small group) sessions that cater to the learning needs and goals of their assigned students. The following responsibilities are designed to assist tutors in doing so: Assessing student's academic academic strengths and weaknesses by utilizing test results from our proprietary software Create personalized lesson plans for each student to better suit his/her individual academic needs Assist students with homework, test preparation, and essays if instructed to do so Work with students to help them learn and understand key concepts, especially those taught in Alabama classrooms Teach students the skills needed to improve their academic performance, highlighting note-taking, studying, and other test-taking tips Distribute practice assignments to help further students' understanding of school-based topics and skills outside of the classroom Utilize manipulatives, workbooks, the Internet, and other resources to effectively help students understand key ideas and concepts Provide students positive and constructive feedback needed to learn in both the classroom and independently Provide consistent feedback regarding student progress to both parents and other tutors Maintain a clean, welcoming environment in which students feel comfortable learning Subjects we
Tutor :
Math, English Language Arts (Reading), Science, History & Test Prep such as
ACT Bonus:
Experience with special education, ELL students, test prep (ACT, ACAP), or science subjects.

Monday-Friday:
1:00-9:30
PM Saturday:
9:00 AM-2:30 PM Tutors provide availability within these hours. Sessions are scheduled based on student needs, program demand, and consistency of availability.
