QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 60 college hours OR Associates Degree OR passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment. Targeted job related education with study in job-related area. Knowledge required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents and/or ratios. Ability to read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, present information to others and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: stages of child development, age appropriate activities and safety practices and procedures. Ability to schedule activities, collate data and use basic, job-related equipment. Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances, work with data utilizing defined and similar processes and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals, work with specific, job-related data and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines and problem solving with equipment is limited. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to work as part of a team and to work with constant interruptions.

JOB GOAL
To work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other instruction al staff to provide effective Math or English instruction for all students. To work under direct supervision using standardized procedures, to provide information and/or advise others and to operate within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have an impact on student achievement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow directives from the Lead Teacher and/or assigned teacher in addressing the instructional needs of students struggling in reading, writing or math. Work with individual students and small groups of students in understanding and completing content-specific reading, writing or math assignments. Promote reading habits and strategies that will help students take responsibility and owndership for their own reading growth and success. Support writing across the curriculum efforts by providing support to students and teachers in non-English/Language Arts classes. Collaborate with the administration in tutoring sessions with students who are in need of support. Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher in meeting the literacy/math needs of students with special needs. Substitute-teach as necessary. Use educational software to diagnose skill deficits and provide support for growth and mastery. Update and collaborate with teachers and instructional coaches of the students' growth. Provide hands on, point-in-time remediation and intervention for students. Be familiar with RTI process so that students receive the prescribed instruction needed. Follow all school district policies/procedures. Implement, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study. Monitor individual and groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, library, physical fitness activities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. Perform record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, attendance, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing records/materials. Serve as a substitute when needed to ensure continuity of curriculum for all students. Be aware of Board of Education policies, district and school guidelines, and regulations and adhere to the same. To affirmatively implement the district desegregation plan in the school. Other duties assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary Range:
Range 7 - Support Staff Hourly Salary Schedule ($13.30/hr. - $25.18/hr. depending on relevant experience)
Length of Contract:
182 contract days, 8 hours per day

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
