Overview Job Description Crown Valley Academics is seeking a reliable, engaging, and patient Japanese tutor for a 4-year-old student in Chula Vista. This requires 2-3 hours weekly on Saturdays, Sundays, and/or Wednesdays. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and can create a fun, immersive, and encouraging learning environment through play-based instruction. Sessions should focus on helping the student build comfort and familiarity with the Japanese language through conversation, songs, games, reading, and age-appropriate activities. Responsibilities Provide in-person Japanese tutoring sessions for a preschool-aged student Create engaging, interactive, and developmentally appropriate lessons Incorporate play-based learning techniques, music, visuals, and storytelling Encourage conversational Japanese and language immersion in a supportive environment Communicate professionally with parents and Crown Valley regarding progress and session feedback Arrive on time and maintain a dependable schedule Qualifications Fluency in Japanese required Experience working with young children Tutoring, teaching, childcare, or early childhood education experience Patient, positive, and energetic personality Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable transportation for in-person sessions in Chula Vista Schedule Flexible scheduling based on tutor and family availability Potential for ongoing sessions Compensation Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications Duties Deliver dynamic, in-person Japanese language lessons tailored to students' age, skill level, and learning objectives Develop and adapt curriculum materials that incorporate modern learning technology and interactive activities Manage classroom environments effectively, ensuring safety, engagement, and positive behavior Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback Collaborate with parents, guardians, or school staff to support student development and address individual needs Plan lessons that integrate early childhood education principles Requirements Proven experience with children or students of various ages in an educational setting Strong knowledge of Japanese language instruction, including curriculum development and lesson planning techniques Experience working with diverse learners, including those requiring special education or preschool experience Excellent communication skills in Japanese; proficiency in English is preferred.
