Tutor Western University of Health Sciences - 4.2 Pomona, CA Job Details Temporary $17 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid time off Retirement plan Qualifications Computer operation Bachelor's degree Desktop applications Full Job Description Under direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Tutor will work regularly with cohort in either large group course-specific reviews or smaller group of 5-8 students through the CDM curriculum. The large group reviews will be presented typically before an exam. The smaller groups are a Tutoring intervention for students in academic difficulty or formal Academic Probation. The Tutor will supply effective facilitation in a manner that will improve students' academic skills while developing mastery of subject material. Student independence rather than Tutor dependence will be the emphasis of Tutor. This position will also adhere University and CDM guidelines as well as follow University and CDM documentation policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with faculty, staff, students, and any outside contacts.
Abilities:
Excellent computer skills to use various related software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, and other software programs required by the position. Must have a good working knowledge of the Internet. Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree.
Experience:
Some doctoral or professional experience required.
Preferred Qualifications Education:
Master's Degree. Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Create and deliver at least one monthly large group review. Key Responsibilities Provide academic intervention for students in difficulty or formal Academic Probation. Key Responsibilities Follow all CDM policies and procedures. Communicate review plans with LEAD Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Organize and maintain attendance log for academic intervention sessions. Organize and communicate academic intervention session meeting time and location. Collaborate with CDM to address student academic concerns and refer non-academic matters to appropriate campus resources in alignment with university polices.
