AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
The AST Trainer is responsible to work cooperatively with the AST Supervisor and other support members in developing, implementing, and evaluating individual care and programming. This could include implementing functional independence, self-reliance, problem-solving, decision-making, self-monitoring and coping skills, social pragmatics, social skills, social communication, and pursuit of leisure activities. This individual should follow up directly with the AST Supervisor on any program or personnel issues within the service delivery. The AST Trainer is responsible to provide direct services to the individuals, including: assisting in maintaining a clean, safe environment, meal assistance, and supervising, training, and assisting the individuals in every aspect of their lives.QUALIFICATIONS
Must drive a vehicle and be entered into an employee pull system that Redwood Developmental Services uses through the DMV . All employees/contractors in this position must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and carry a minimum of $100,000 for bodily damage per passenger and $100,000 for personal property. Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities preferred. Must have all of the following: a sincere desire to provide adaptive skill training to individuals with intellectual and or physical disability; ability to make sound judgements when given guidance and priorities; ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in programming; ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with other consultants.AST TRAINER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsibility:
To renew and implement all policies and procedures. Document all accidents, incidents, and report any vulnerable adult protection issues accordingly. To respect individual rights and assure they are met. Be familiar with individual rightsInform the individuals of their rights to increase individual self-esteem. Be positive in interactions with individuals. Provide positive programming. Reinforce positive behaviors. Treat individuals in an age-appropriate manner with dignity and respect. To assure active individual involvement in all aspects of their program. Assist individuals in looking neat and dressed appropriately. To assure active individual involvement in all aspects of their program. Encourage interaction with other individuals. Provide opportunities for individual choices. To implement and document progress goals. Implement and document programs electronically on aloha. Provide individuals with their program progress regularly. To remain alert to individual behavior, physical changes and notify the supervisor as appropriate. Know and understand behavior management plans as needed. No, and be able to identify signs of agitation and escalation for the purpose of using positive. Intervention techniques. Alert, AST supervisor of any problems or changes. To assist individuals with contacts. Be aware of restrictions of contacts and assist with appliance. Encourage contacts with persons from other facilities and friends in the community. Display positive supportive attitude towards individuals and others of their support team. Represent AST programing to others in a positive supportive mannerTo initiate individuals of involvement in activities. Implement daily activity schedule. Interact with individuals at all appropriate times. Involve individuals in the planning of activities. To encourage individual development friendships outside of their usual environment. Implement programs or trainings to increase appropriate social behaviors, and survival skills in community activities. Make self-aware of appropriate community activities.Pay:
