Job Description:
Summary:
The Learning Services Program (LSP), a program for first-year students with learning disabilities, is looking for a part-time Learning Support Specialist/Writing Tutor for the academic year. The LSP Specialist provides academic support and disability accommodations in one-on-one weekly meetings to students with learning disabilities and possibly other disabilities. The Specialist also provides individual writing tutoring for students in the LSP reserved section of Writing Studies. Training and supervision will be provided.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time. 25
  • 27 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$23.00
  • $25.
00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
B.A. in related field. Experience working with students with learning disabilities and ADHD and the accommodations process. Experience providing one-on-one academic support services. Experience or training in teaching or tutoring writing is required, preferably for individuals with learning disabilities. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, patience in working with others, and attention to detail.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in education, counseling, or related field. Familiarity with the developmental issues of college students. Strong academic or research writing experience.
