At Pathway, we are looking for creative and passionate tutor who are looking to impact and change the lives of students with autism and special needs. As a tutor, you will provide one-on-one classes to students of various ages and skill levels, help not just academic, but also emotional and daily life activities The Educational and Behavioral Support Specialist provides individualized academic and behavioral support to children on the autism spectrum in a specialized tutoring setting. This position focuses on structured skill development, emotional regulation, and adaptive learning strategies using a child-centered, gradual approach that respects each childs developmental profile and sensory needs.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one tutoring to students of various ages and skill levels Assess students' learning needs and develop personalized lesson plans Utilize learning technology and educational resources in the classroom Communicate effectively to provide progress updates and address any concerns Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities Support students in developing foundational skills Speaking in Portuguese Manage autism crises behavior
Requirements:
Valid Florida Drivers Licence Reliable Transportation Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in educational or child development settings (e.g., classroom teaching, academic coordination support, daycare, intervention programs, or structured au pair educational roles). Demonstrated experience working with children with developmental differences, preferably autism spectrum disorder. Working knowledge of structured behavioral and educational support strategies. Ability to document progress and communicate effectively with families and supervisors. Professional-level English proficiency (written and verbal) Portuguese speaking and writing are necessary Preferred Qualifications Experience in U.S.-based childcare or educational environments (e.g., daycare or au pair programs). Certification in Child Protection (e.g., HarvardX or equivalent). Training in behavioral intervention methodologies or autism-specific educational strategies. CPR/First Aid certification. Academic or research experience related to youth mental health, mentoring, or supervised educational projects. Core Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Observational and documentation accuracy. Ability to follow structured protocols and adapt materials to individual needs. Commitment to child-centered, ethical educational practice.
