13 Year Old (Elementary Level) ELA & Math Tutor - Part Time, in Person in Homestead

About the student 13 year old student at elementary level The student is autistic, non-verbal, and is homeschooled. He needs to work with a tutor for ELA & math skills. The family is getting funded for the tutoring by an agency that requires the tutor to have either a valid Florida educator's certificate or a valid professional standard teaching certificate issued by another state. The family is asking for a tutor with experience working with students with autism and/or special needs. The student is currently struggling with his homeschool curriculum due to his autism. They need a tutor who is available during the mornings, so that the ABA therapist is also present for sessions, at least in the beginning. The student is non verbal. The family wants the tutor to help with teaching the student to hold a pencil, to write his name, to be able to write numbers, & particularly wanting the student to know Mom's number and be able to write it down in an emergency situation. The goal is for the student to be able to learn as much as possible. The family wants 1 hour sessions 1-2 times a week, between 9am-11am on Tuesday and between 9am-12pm on Thursday. The family is seeking a tutor who can meet at their home in Homestead in the Lake Shore Community. Qualifications Ideal candidates have prior experience working with students with autism and/or special needs. Ideal candidates will have a valid teaching certificate. Ideal candidates will have a background in special education. Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles) Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be a minor.
