Job Description
About us Grade Potential is a leading provider of personalized, in-person tutoring services nationwide. Our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential through tailored, one-on-one educational support. We handle the logistics—from student matching to payment processing—so you can focus on what matters most: helping students succeed. With flexible in-person tutoring opportunities, subject variety, and a dedicated support team, we ensure tutors have the tools they need to thrive. If you're passionate about education and ready to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you. About the student 7th grade student, 13 years old The student is in 7th grade but is closer to 4th grade level in his ELA skills. His math skills are only about a grade level below. He has ADHD and impaired eyesight. The student needs to work with a tutor for ELA, writing, and math skills. The family is asking for a certified teacher to work with the student and would prefer a special education teacher. The student is currently in 7th grade but is performing closer to a 4th grade level in reading comprehension and writing. He has strong verbal vocabulary skills but struggles to understand and explain grade-level material independently. When reading, he often focuses heavily on the individual words and is able to read them accurately, but he has difficulty retaining the meaning of what he read or understanding the overall passage. Writing is a major area of difficulty, including spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and organizing thoughts clearly. He benefits from shortened assignments, step-by-step instructions, extra time, and frequent check-ins for understanding. Math skills are only slightly below grade level, but he may need support with word problems and multi-step tasks. The student has ADHD, which affects focus, organization, and task completion. He can become defiant or resistant to help when frustrated and does not like attention drawn to his academic struggles. The goals are to help the student improve his writing and math skills while also building his confidence and independence as a learner. The family would like him to make steady academic and emotional progress so he is prepared to successfully transition back to in-person schooling by 9th grade. The family wants 1 hour sessions once a week during their available times. They are available Wednesday & Thursday from 10am-10pm as well as Friday from 10am-7pm.
