Job Title:
English Language Arts Tutor - Writing Specialist (Part-Time)
Position Summary:
  • Seeking an experienced English Language Arts (ELA) tutor
  • With a strong specialization in writing to support elementary and middle school students in developing their writing skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for language, grammar, and composition, and a talent for helping students become confident and effective writers.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide small-group tutoring (about 3 students per hour) using the teaching materials provided by the center, focused on essay composition, creative writing, research papers, and grammar. Teach foundational writing skills such as organization, clarity, tone, thesis development, and proper citation. Guide students through the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. Offer constructive feedback on writing assignments with clear, actionable suggestions for improvement. Provide actionable feedback to parents after a session. Maintain accurate records of sessions and student progress.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Writing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Strong command of English grammar, syntax, and composition techniques. Prior tutoring experience or teaching writing, preferably in middle school, high school, or college. Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Working Hours /
Pay Range:
Tuesday through Friday (3:30-7:30 PM) & Saturday (9:00 AM-2:00 PM) No classes on
Sunday and Monday Pay Range:
$25 per hour for the first three months, followed by $30 per hour thereafter.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
