JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Acceptable Experience and Training High school diploma or GED equivalent required; and Forty-Eight (48) college credits, an Associates' Degree or successful completion of the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis; and Classroom or other instructional experience is preferred; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform as an effective and competent Pre KTutor. Essential Physical Abilities Clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to engage in verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person, as well as in written communications; Ability to comprehend and interpret the meaning of words and respond effectively; Visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and instructions, and prepare and review a variety of written documents, and organize documents and materials; Manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment; Personal mobility, flexibility and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to stand or sit for long periods of time and work in an office or classroom environment; Job tasks may require, with or without reasonable accommodation, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide tutoring and supplemental instruction to Pre K students (3-4 year old), primarily in math, writing, reading, and social skills. Duties include working with selected students, assisting in assessments for proficiency, entering test results and grades into District-wide network, implementing specialized tutoring programs, and assisting the teacher in preparing lesson plans, learning activities and monitoring student progress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide assistance to Pre K teacher and students in the Pre K program; Assist Pre K teacher in preparing, modifying, and adapting materials and presentations used in the classroom; Assist students and Pre K teacher with classroom activities, assessments, classroom management, clerical and record-keeping duties related to Pre K students; Direct parent helpers as to what to do in the classroom; Attends Music, PE and Library classes with students. Attends all home visits with Pre-K Teacher Helps choose and prepare free choice activities each day. Keep track of parent participation hours. Assist in maintaining Pre K working files on students; monitors student progress and provides input on student performance; Prepare state and other reports as needed; Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures and safety practices. Ability to: Follow written and oral instructions and observe District policies and procedures; Support the philosophical foundations and guidelines of the Boise School District Title I Program; Successfully complete District training based upon Idaho Paraprofessional Standards; Work effectively with 3-4 year old children; Maintain student, school, and parental confidentiality; Operate classroom instructional equipment, office equipment, and a computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Demonstrate integrity and ingenuity in the performance of assigned tasks.
