Special education reading tutor My Tutor Anywhere Naperville, IL Job Details Contract $60 an hour 6 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Teaching Certification Tutoring Working with individuals with autism Working with tutored students One-on-one student support Working with students Elementary school teaching Full Job Description My Tutor Anywhere is seeking a patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate special education reading tutor to work one-on-one with elementary-aged students with autism spectrum disorder and reading challenges. The ideal tutor should have experience providing individualized instruction to students with varying academic, language, sensory, and behavioral needs. Students may struggle with foundational reading skills including phonemic awareness, blending, decoding, sight word recognition, fluency, and early comprehension skills. Preference will be given to tutors who are knowledgeable about structured literacy approaches, including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or similar methodologies, and who are comfortable adapting instruction based on student responsiveness and pacing.
The ideal tutor:
Has experience working with students with ASD and language delays Is knowledgeable about structured literacy / Orton-Gillingham/Wilson methods Is patient, flexible, and comfortable adapting instruction in real time Understands sensory and behavioral needs Has experience teaching early reading and foundational phonics skills Can build strong rapport while maintaining structure and consistency Is comfortable incorporating movement breaks and multisensory strategies when needed
