Position Title Writing Center Tutor Department English Division College of Arts & Sciences Supervisor Dr. Sohinee Roy Supervisor Title Associate Professor and Director of the Writing Center Description of Job Duties Direct all inquiries to the Acting Writing Center Director, Dr. Jenny Smith, jjsmith@noctrl.edu who will complete the hiring process for 2026-2027 Provide one-on-one or group tutoring sessions in writing for undergraduate students; tutoring will occur during Writing Center hours and may take place in Oesterle or online. Provide constructive and appropriate feedback by reading, reviewing, and critically questioning student writing. Monitor and record student appointments. Attend required tutor trainings and monthly meetings. Do the job duties for this position include any driving requirements? No
Job Qualifications Minimum:
Must be currently enrolled as a North Central College student or will be enrolled for Fall Cumulative GPA of 3.0 Must have earned B+ or better in a first-year writing course, demonstrating strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to tutor at the Writing Center for both the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year and commit to working a minimum of 4 hours a week (for 2 hour slots). Able and willing to complete 6-8 hours of paid training. Will this position be working with minors?
