Job Title:
Middle School and High School Humanities and Executive Function Tutor
Location:

Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and organized Humanities Tutor to support Middle and High school students in building essential academic skills in the humanities. The ideal candidate will be experienced in tutoring literature, history, and writing, with a strong emphasis on reading comprehension, critical analysis, and academic writing. This role also involves coaching students in executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, and time management, especially as they tackle long-term projects and assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one tutoring in middle and high school-level humanities subjects, including English literature, history, and social studies. Support students through all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to drafting and revising. Offer targeted assistance with reading comprehension, annotation strategies, and textual analysis. Help students develop effective organizational systems, study routines, and planning strategies for short-term and long-term academic tasks. Break down complex assignments and long-term projects into manageable steps, setting goals and timelines with students. Encourage independent learning, critical thinking, and academic confidence. Communicate regularly with parents and/or educational support staff to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in English, History, Education, or a related humanities field Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle and high school students. Strong knowledge of the writing process and ability to teach writing across genres and purposes. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Patience, empathy, and a student-centered approach to learning support. Experience supporting students with executive functioning challenges and is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Background in differentiated instruction and working with diverse learning styles. Formal writing experience or classroom teaching
