Academic Intervention Lead — Math & ELA (Summer 2026) About the Program Beat the Streets Baltimore is a 13-year-old nonprofit serving Baltimore City youth through wrestling, STEM, and academic intervention. This summer, we're running a five-week Innovation & Academic Accelerator Camp at Mount Saint Joseph High School serving 50 middle school campers (grades 3-8). This role leads the academic block — the most data-intensive component of the program. What This Role Actually Is This is not a general tutoring position. You are the academic supervisor for a structured intervention model operating at a 1:2 ratio through 12-13 MSJ student tutors. Your job is to read IXL diagnostic data each morning, prepare daily session guidance, brief tutors before each block, monitor sessions in real time, and escalate campers whose data signals a need for a different approach. You are a supervisor and practitioner combined. When a camper needs Tier III one-on-one support, that falls to you. Core Responsibilities Review each camper's IXL diagnostic data daily and prepare session cards for tutors Log data inside of Mwerevu's dashboard as required Brief MSJ student tutors before each academic block and monitor sessions in real time — intervene when tutors are passive or off-protocol Administer and review exit tickets at the end of each session; identify campers needing escalation Deliver direct instruction for any camper requiring Tier III (1:1) intervention Confirm all tutor session logs are complete and accurate in Airtable daily Report academic progress weekly to the Executive Director Attend pre-camp tutor training June 19-20 and lead the academic orientation component Qualifications Background in education, special education, literacy, or a related field — degree in progress accepted Familiarity with MTSS/RTI or tiered intervention frameworks strongly preferred Experience with IXL or comparable diagnostic-based instruction platforms Ability to manage and direct a team of student tutors in a live session environment SPED certification, reading specialist credential, or equivalent is a plus Strong written communication for session logging and weekly reporting Ability to pass a criminal background and fingerprinting required. Schedule & Compensation Monday-Thursday • June 29 - July 30, 2026 • Approx. 11:00 AM - 2:15 PM 3 hours/day Pre-camp orientation June 19-20 is required for this position.
