Eagan, MN Job Details Part-time $40 - $45 an hour 20 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Basic math Evidence-based practice Bachelor's degree Working with students Adaptability Special Education Teaching Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate academic tutor to support a 6th grade student with executive function needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse learners, a strong foundation in upper elementary reading, (Structured Literacy) writing and math, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet the student's individual learning style. This role requires excellent communication, creativity, and a passion for helping students build both skills and confidence in math. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one reading, writing and math instruction. Adapt lessons to meet the student's individualized learning needs. Use a variety of teaching strategies, including visual supports, manipulatives, and structured practice, to reinforce math concepts and fact fluency. Break down complex problems into manageable steps to build understanding and confidence. Track progress, celebrate successes, and adjust instruction as needed to ensure ongoing growth. Collaborate with parents/guardians (and school staff if needed) to share updates, strategies, and progress. Foster a supportive, encouraging environment that emphasizes persistence, effort, and growth mindset. Qualifications Experience working with elementary students, preferably with SpEd or diverse learning needs. Strong understanding of elementary aged math skills, including multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving. Strong understanding of elementary aged reading skills and phonetic based reading methods. Familiarity with evidence-based math and reading, and writing interventions and strategies for struggling learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both students and families. Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate students who may feel challenged by math. Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field preferred (or equivalent tutoring/teaching experience). Why Join Us?
