Academic Tutor: Lakeville

Elementary Academic Coach/Tutor Needed - Reading, Math & Executive Functioning Learning Designs is seeking a highly patient, engaging, and organized tutor to work with a rising 5th grade girl who struggles with ADHD and requires support multiple days per week. The student needs ongoing support in: Reading Math Executive functioning skills Attention and focus Organization Task completion Time management Emotional regulation and flexibility during academic tasks Executive functioning experience is a MUST. The ideal candidate understands how ADHD impacts learning and can provide structured, encouraging, and relationship-based support while helping the student build confidence and independence. Relationship building is critical. The student responds best to someone who is positive, knowledgeable, patient, and able to develop trust and connection while maintaining structure and high expectations.

The ideal tutor is:

Warm, calm, and positive Consistent and reliable Skilled at creating structure and routines Able to break tasks into manageable steps Creative and engaging in their teaching approach Comfortable balancing academics with executive functioning support Preferred experience: Special education ADHD/executive functioning coaching Reading and math intervention Elementary or middle school teaching/tutoring experience This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with students and helping them develop both academic skills and the tools needed to become more successful, independent learners. Qualifications Experience working with elementary students, preferably with SpEd or diverse learning needs. Strong understanding of elementary aged math skills, including multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving. Strong understanding of elementary aged reading skills and phonetic based reading methods. Familiarity with evidence-based math and reading interventions and strategies for struggling learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both students and families. Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate students who may feel challenged by math. Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field preferred (or equivalent tutoring/teaching experience). Why Join Us?
