Job Description

Job Description This position exists to provide academic assistance in the Tutoring Center to students in various academic program areas. Under general supervision, the CLA II Academic Support Programs Tutor works with a variety of students, that may include students whose placement test scores identify them as academically disadvantaged, English Language Learners, or students in other at-risk categories. This CLA II will tutor in subject areas including but not limited to: Business, English, Sociology, Philosophy, graphic design, reading comprehension and study skills for courses offered at HTC as well as other technical program areas as needed. In addition, this CLA will tutor students in basic computer applications as needed. Additional duties will include back up of essential functions of the Tutoring Center and development of academic success workshops and presentations. Other duties may be assigned.
Salary Range:
$21.89 - $31.44 Hourly Minimum Qualifications Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure AND One year of teaching/tutoring experience at the high school level or above OR 4 years of work experience where no degree/certificate/diploma/degree/licensure is required OR An equivalent combination of education and work experience Preferred Qualification Previous teaching or tutoring experience in a two-year or four-year college Experience working with, and commitment to serving, diverse student populations BA I BS degree or higher in related field Knowledge of general trades in a technical or community college Aptitude for working with learners Ability to actively engage and motivate students Computer literacy and ability and interest to work with students in a variety of learning environments Available to work varying second shift hours Other Requirements Hennepin Technical College is currently unable to sponsor work visas or green card applications due to regulatory complexity, budget constraints, and alignment with our current hiring strategy.
