Full Job Description Description:
In-Person Position, Durham, NC 10:00-6:00PM during school year and 8:00-4:00PM during summer Reports to Director of Student Programs Position Summary The Director of Tutoring & Summer Programs leads the strategy, growth, and execution of all tutoring and summer programming while serving as a member of the organization's Strategic Steering Committee leadership team. This role is responsible for building high-quality, sustainable programs that meet student needs while expanding enrollment, strengthening family engagement, and supporting high-quality programming. The Director oversees program design, staffing, operations, and continuous improvement, ensuring a strong and consistent experience for students, families, and instructors/tutors. Key Responsibilities Lead the overall vision, quality, and execution of tutoring and summer programs by overseeing hiring, development, coaching, and program consistency while using data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement. Drive strategic growth and innovation of tutoring and summer programs by analyzing enrollment trends, identifying new opportunities, collaborating across departments, and strengthening community relationships to expand impact, visibility, and revenue. Oversee operational systems and logistics for tutoring and summer programs, ensuring efficient scheduling, enrollment, communication, tracking, matching, and recordkeeping processes that support scalable and high-quality program delivery. Manage program budgets and financial operations by monitoring enrollment and revenue performance, allocating resources strategically, maintaining financial sustainability, and partnering with Finance to uphold policies and payroll processes. Establish and maintain high standards for communication and family engagement by ensuring responsive, consistent outreach, addressing complex concerns, building long-term trust, and gathering feedback to strengthen program effectiveness.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in education, tutoring, program leadership, operations, or related fields; experience leading academic support, enrichment, or youth development programs preferred. Strong understanding of K-12 education, student learning, and high-quality tutoring or summer programming, with the ability to balance strategic vision and day-to-day execution. Demonstrated success leading programs, teams, or business functions with responsibility for growth, operations, enrollment, budgeting, and program performance outcomes. Strategic, adaptable, and solutions-oriented leader with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments, manage change effectively, and drive continuous improvement through data, feedback, and outcomes analysis. Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills across diverse, internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership experience coaching, supervising, and motivating teams toward shared goals, high performance, and strong program quality. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, systems, and deadlines with attention to detail and professionalism. Commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered environments and supporting equitable access and opportunities for diverse learners and families. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with scheduling, enrollment, CRM, or student information systems preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work occasional hours outside of typical day, including weekends, in support of program events and operations. Hill Learning Center supports students, educators, and families with research-based, culturally relevant programs designed to meet the needs of students with learning differences, attention challenges, gaps in foundational academic skills, and difficulties with executive function.
