Posting Details Position Information Position Title Tutor, Upward Bound - Southern High School - PTT Department Student Support Program Location Beatrice Job Category Support Staff Job Type PT Posting Number 02147 Position End Date Position Summary Information General Description of Position Under the general direction and supervision of the TRIO Upward Bound Director, the Tutor is responsible for the academic and/or social development portions of the Upward Bound Academic Year. This is a part-time, temporary, grant-funded position working 10-15 hours per month during the 2026-2027 school year. Essential Functions Provide academic assistance and/or assistance in finding appropriate academic resources for TRIO Upward Bound (UB) high school participantspleting classroom assignments and studying for uing tests. Effectively serve students who will be the first generation in their family to attend college and/or are from low-ie households, and are at various levels in subjects that include but are not limited to: English, writingposition, math, science, and foreign language. Utilize positivemunication skills to efficiently assist students with academic-related work and enhance student skills in areas such as studying, test taking,munication, goal setting, self-esteem, and confidence building. Consistently ensure the building and classroom entrances are unlocked prior to student arrival, and that each student has been picked up by their approved ride before locking up. Provide student supervision and accountability. Ensure each student has accuratelypleted the UB tutoring sign-in/sign-out sheet. Work independently with students, under the general supervision and direction of UB staff. Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging w all students, faculty members, and college employees feel weed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster amunity w each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all. Marginal Functions Monitor tutoring supplies,municating needs to UB staff in a timely manner. Remind students, prior to the end of the tutoring session, to call for a ride home if needed. Readily assist students in contacting their parent/guardian for a ride home. May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required. Perform other College functions and duties as assigned. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrate strong academic proficiency and knowledge of effective study skills/techniques. Ability to be motivational and an outstanding role model. Ability to effectivelymunicate electronically (text, e-mail); in writing; in person; and on the phone. Computer skills, including experience with Google Docs and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel). Adept at locating and utilizing credible/approved educational resources. Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), including approved and unapproved utilization for school assignments/research. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary. The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable amodation, using some otherbination of skills and abilities. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalency. Successfulpletion of a minimum of 24 credits in education, social sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Desired Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or related field from an accredited college or university. Classroom or related experience working with low-ie, first-generation high school students. Salary $15.00/hour Benefits Part-time temporary employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College. Schedule Normal hours of work for this part-time, grant-funded position are scheduled by UB generally between 6:15 pm and 8:45 pm, once per week (Monday - Friday), with approximately 10-15 hours per month during the 2026 - 2027 school year. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
