Job Description Summary Students employed by the Center for Academic Vision & Excellence (CAVE) serve as peer
- tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, embedded tutors, or a combination of these roles designed to provide comprehensive student support.

Tutors assist students in becoming more successful and independent learners. Peer tutors help to integrate effective learning and study strategies for their assigned students, while at the same time clarifying and/or reinforcing course content, assignments and material. Embedded Tutors have a class assignment and work directly with the instructor and class members, in addition to serving as a CAVE tutor. Provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to students. Keep accurate records of each tutoring session using Accudemia software. Have thorough knowledge of college services, support, and resources. Additional tasks assigned by department supervisor. Supplemental Instruction Leaders facilitate regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions for targeted courses. The sessions allow students to review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and prepare for examinations. Students learn how to integrate course content with reasoning and study skills. Attend the targeted SI class, take notes, and participate in discussions. Meet with the instructor for content review and feedback. Conduct at least one full 50-minute weekly session for each assigned course, throughout the semester. Plan SI sessions using a wide variety of interactive learning strategies.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education/Experience Must be an undergraduate student with at least one semester of enrollment. A grade of B+ or higher in any selected SI course. Have and maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Must be able to provide instructor referrals, if requested. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Be able to flexibly work 8-10 hours per week. Be a model student who understands the importance and application of effective study skills and strategies.ENVIRONMENT
