NSSA Summary The MS ELA Tutor will work with students at Newmarket Junior High School to strengthen their English Language Arts skills, build confidence, and support academic success. The tutor will provide targeted assistance in reading, writing, comprehension, and related ELA competencies based on student needs. Essential Functions (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Provide targeted small-group Tier 2 academic interventions in reading and writing during the school's established cross-grade intervention block and classroom settings, serving students across grades 6, 7, and 8 Deliver evidence-based instruction in reading comprehension, writing skills, and academic study strategies tailored to individual learning profiles Support skill transfer by coordinating intervention strategies with students' core classroom instruction Maintain accurate, timely progress monitoring data for all assigned students using the school's current data tools Contribute to data-driven decision-making at team meetings, using student performance data to inform instructional adjustments Maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, intervention goals, and strategies for home support Maintain professional boundaries, code of ethics, and confidentiality Performs related work as needed Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree or NH Paraeducator License. Strong understanding of knowledge with the ability to clearly explain concepts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with diverse student populations. Patience and the ability to motivate struggling learners. Proficiency in using educational technology and math-related software.Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or related field preferred. Familiarity with a range of evidence-based intervention programs. Experience working in school settings. Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative team approach. Knowledge, Ability, SkillKnowledge:
Knowledge of best practices and principles associated with math instruction.Ability:
Ability to listen, observe, and interact in a positive and effective manner with people at all levels of society. Ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and appropriately with students. Ability to provide direct instruction and analyze assessment results to determine specific areas of need.Skills:

ELA Tutors work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading and writing skills. Job Environment Work is performed under typical small-group and one-on-one instructional conditions. Operates computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment. Contacts are by phone, through correspondence, and in person; they generally consist of an information exchange dialogue, discussing student intervention plans and progress as assessed and observed. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create a supportive network for students. Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding student progress and intervention strategies. Employee has access to confidential student information related to assignments.
