Our mission at our brand-new NYC Chinatown location is to transform disengaged or unmotivated students into driven, enthusiastic learners. We bridge the gap between academic pressure and genuine curiosity by using interactive lessons, real-world examples, and highly engaging teaching methods. If you are passionate about mentoring youth and making math, logic, and test prep actually fun , we want you on our team. Position Summary We are seeking high-energy, charismatic, and knowledgeable SAT and SHSAT Prep Tutors to lead our weekend trial classes and long-term tutoring pipelines. You will be the face of our new Chinatown location, working directly with middle and high school students.
Schedule & Hours:
This position starts on weekends to lead our 1-hour introductory trial classes. For the right candidate, there is potential for hour extensions up to maybe 8 hours per week in the future. Growth in hours will depend on factors such as student enrollment, class performance, scheduling flexibility, and student retention.
Key Responsibilities Engage & Motivate:
Deliver high-energy lessons designed to captivate students who may initially lack motivation. Use relevant, connecting examples (like interactive math activities) to make concepts stick.
Test Prep Instruction:
Teach foundational concepts, strategies, and shortcuts for the SAT and/or SHSAT (specifically Math, Reading, and Writing sections).
Lead Trial Classes:
Facilitate dynamic 1-hour weekend trial classes for groups of prospective students to showcase the AI+Prep learning experience.
Track Student Progress:
Provide brief, constructive feedback to parents and management regarding student engagement and academic growth. Foster a
Positive Environment:
Create an inclusive, encouraging classroom culture where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Qualifications & Requirements Academic Strength:
Strong mastery of SAT and/or SHSAT content. (High scores on official standardized tests are a major plus). The "Spark": Exceptional communication skills and an infectious, positive energy. You must be able to command a room and connect with teenagers.
Teaching/Mentoring Experience:
Prior experience in tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or teaching is preferred—especially experience working with students who require extra encouragement.
Location:
Ability to reliably commute to our NYC Chinatown location for in-person weekend shifts. Bilingual Advantage (Optional but highly preferred): Ability to speak Cantonese or Mandarin is a significant asset for communicating with local families, though not strictly required.
