Qualifications:
Hold a valid Ohio teaching certificate Participate in orientation and training Be knowledgeable of curriculum content area Have experience working with children Demonstrate a sincere desire to aide all children Be of good health, high moral character, and have a good attendance record.
General Description :
To conduct tutoring sessions with children in out-of-school time hours relating to enrichment or remediation of a basic skills subject area, and/or meeting Ohio standards and proficiency preparation.
Essential Functions :
Create lessons plans, including academic goals for each tutoring session. Conduct organized tutoring sessions, bringing appropriate materials for instruction that is individualized for the children. Keep and submit on a timely basis, appropriate records of the children's attendance and progress. Communicate with the classroom teachers to gain insight and information about the children. Supervise and assist America Reads tutors or EDFI tutors who are assigned to work with the same children Report to the Program Coordinator or Site Coordinator any concerns regarding the tutoring program.
Other Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model for children in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings Help instill in children the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values Conduct other duties as assigned by the program coordinator.
Additional Working Conditions:
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions. Occasional interaction among non-compliant children.
