JOB DESCRIPTION
The tutor position will provide academic assistance services to at-risk students, including tutoring student in specific academic areas related to their core curriculum and/or assist student with their homework assignments afterschool. The tutor will be under the supervision of the Indian Education Program Tutoring Coordinator.
Job Duties:
Tutoring student in 1 on 1 and/or small groups with Push-in/Pull-out tutoring sessions Prepare lesson plans to focus on specific academic areas designated by teacher and following OK state standards Consult with Indian Education Tutoring coordinator on assessing student academic achievement and social emotional needs of students Communicate regularly with students' teachers and program and site staff Ensure student safety and school policy procedures Keep accurate records and collect data on students according to grant requirements Implement cultural educational programming Meets regularly with program staff Supports the project coordinator with implementation of programs And other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
Required:
Working toward a degree and/or related field and/or work experience in a school setting with elementary or secondary students. Have experience working with at risk children grades PK-12th; preferably in a school setting. Must possess organization, communication and problem solving skills. Must pass a school background check.
Desired:
Teaching credential or working toward credential. Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities. Strong administrative and organizational skills. High level of communication skills, both written and oral. Strong initiative and ability to solve problems. Experience working in an ethnically diverse community.
