Job Description

Eastern Oregon University Reading Clinic is currently seeking applicants for part-time literacy tutors.
Candidates should demonstrate:
Ability and willingness to learn specific tutoring techniques and use the provided curricula accurately and effectively. Ability and willingness to learn basic literacy assessment protocols Ability to provide literacy tutoring multiple days per week (3-4) at various times of the day. Ability to work effectively with young children in small groups or one-on-one situations Ability to receive and apply feedback Ability to maintain a positive attitude and a growth mindset while working with children Organizational skills to accurately record student progress daily Ability to communicate effectively with parents and children using both verbal and written communication Responsibilities Plan for and deliver literacy tutoring to young children Administer assessments Record daily student progress Record assessment data Required Qualifications 18 years of age or older. Desire to work with young children Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with young children Licensed teacher or paraprofessional Previous training in evidence-based literacy methods
