About the Opportunity We are seeking passionate and dependable individuals to provide in-person academic support to elementary students in schools throughout the Nashville area. Tutors will work directly with students to help strengthen foundational reading skills while building confidence, engagement, and a positive learning experience. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to make a meaningful impact in their local community. Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including tutors, substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, college students, aspiring educators, retired educators, youth program leaders, coaches, and professionals seeking meaningful part-time work. Nashville, TN (Multiple School Locations) Schedule:
School-day hours; mornings and/or afternoons depending on school placement; Approximately 5-10 hours per week Position Overview As an In-Person Elementary Tutor, you will work with students during the school day in a structured educational environment. You will provide academic support, encourage student participation, and help create a positive and engaging atmosphere that supports learning and growth. Tutors will serve as mentors and academic partners, helping students build skills and confidence through consistent support and relationship-building. Responsibilities Provide academic support to elementary students in small groups (3:1 ratio) in a school setting Deliver tutoring and learning support using a structured, easy-to-follow curriculum provided by the program. Encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment Build strong, supportive relationships with students Track attendance and complete required documentation as needed Communicate professionally with school staff and program leadership Maintain reliability and consistency with assigned schedules Follow all school and program procedures and expectations Qualifications Bachelor's degree or degree in progress is preferred Experience working with children, students, or youth preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Dependable, professional, and able to maintain a consistent schedule Comfortable working in school environments Ability to engage and motivate students Must be able to meet all school-based onboarding requirements, including background screening requirements if applicable Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required: Tutoring Teaching Mentoring Childcare Summer camps Coaching Youth organizations After-school programs Classroom support Volunteer work with children Schedule Information School-day schedule; mornings and/or afternoons depending on location Opportunities available multiple days each week Consistent scheduling based on school calendars Multiple school locations throughout the Nashville area Why Join Us?
