  • About (Fit Learning) Fit Learning is a learning laboratory where we apply the science of learning to teach academic skills to school-aged children.
Our methods are rooted in the science of behavior and the technologies of teaching that have emerged from this science. Fit Learning Interns receive extensive training in the principles of behavior and technologies like precision teaching, direct instruction, and curriculum-based measurement to produce profound academic gains with the learners they work with. Learners enrolled at Fit Learning consistently gain a year's academic growth in 8 weeks. Fit Learning values creating a nurturing environment for our staff, learners, and their families. Our internship provides excellent experience in preparation for graduate school. Internship Description Learning Coach interns will receive extensive training required to deliver academic curriculum to school-aged sessions using the science of behavior. Training is competency-based, which means we will provide the amount of training you need to become certified in the Fit Learning model to deliver sessions to our learners. Once certified, you will work 1:1 with school-aged children in the areas of reading, math, and critical thinking and problem-solving. We also have a classroom readiness program for children ages 3-5. Sessions are fun, fast-paced, and goal-oriented. Fit Learning Coaches are responsible for preparing and delivering sessions related to all curriculum domains in which the Learning Coach is certified. Learning coaches are trained to make real-time data-based decisions about learners' progress. You will work closely with Case Managers, Learning Coaches, and the Directorship to advance learners enrolled at Fit Learning. Interns may have the opportunity for part-time employment with our organization after completing the internship. Individuals who have the opportunity to work with us for 1-2 years following the internship are preferred. Duties Interns at Fit Learning are extensively trained in behavioral education, or the methods of academic skill acquisition informed by the scientific methodology and dependent variables of the science of behavior. They learn about the origins of Fit Learning, a learning laboratory that engages behavioral education. Interns will learn about the science behind the Fit Learning model and can implement the model with school-aged children to teach academic skills. Interns will complete the following activities:
  • Interns are trained in the principles of behavior and learn how to identify the functions of behavior and contextual variables that may influence behavior.
  • Interns are trained in 3 evidence-based teaching technologies informed by behavioral science: Direct Instruction, Precision Teaching, and Curriculum-based measurement. Once proficient, interns will implement these technologies with students enrolled at Fit Learning.
  • Interns learn the instructional design process. Specifically, interns learn to break complex skills and concepts into a hierarchy of components and composite skills to facilitate rapid learning. Interns will apply these skills to teach young learners reading, math, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interns learn how to define skill mastery objectively based on observable features of behavior
  • Interns learn how to collect, analyze, and make data-based decisions using the Standard Celeration Chart
  • an incredibly sensitive measurement tool that applies to all areas of human behavior.
  • Interns are mentored to prepare PowerPoint presentations and are coached on speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interns can collaborate on research projects and professional presentations with senior team members.

Language Ability:

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and fluency with: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel Gmail Apple operating systems (including mobile versions) Zoom Preferred Qualifications Strong foundation in math and reading skills.
