Math and English Special Needs Tutor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs tutor for a 12th grader for Math and English. Bright, eager student, not at grade level. On the spectrum (mod/severe) needing support with patience, praise, creativity and redirection as needed. There will also be other students in this Natomas area of Sacramento. NO Online Tutoring for this student. Tutoring to take place In-person in the student's home. Weekday tutoring is required; morings or afternoon flexibility, twice a week. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and be able to provide motivational support and engagement with kindness, care and commitment. Special Ed/Needs one-on-one tutoring experience required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent tutoring using positive reinforcement and building self confidence.
• Skilled tutoring, teaching using the student's own curriculum and real time assignments.
• Ability to simplify concepts, and help build better study habits and organizational skills if needed.
• Help to improve academic performance and praise small victories with a step by step approach.
• Assist students with guidance and understanding of course materials, meeting their individual academic needs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum Bachelor's degree.
• ABA Support experience a plus, a teaching credential is not required.
• Proficiency in Math and English, other core curriculum subjects is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with special ed/needs students.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain goals and concepts clearly.
• Simplify concepts and adaptability with different student earning styles.
• Basic technical skills for reporting sessions on our tutor platform, writing concise student progress notes, problem solver and communicate in a timely manner.
