  • $40 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Teaching Certification Engaging lesson design (student motivation techniques) Education Bachelor's degree Working with students Classroom experience Teaching Full Job Description The Friends of Foster Care is looking for an ESL Tutor in Newport News that can provide academic support to English Learners in Middle School.
Support is needed in Math as well. We are looking for professionals with classroom experience and a passion for helping foster youth reach their full potential. Tutoring typically takes place after school, in-person (at the student's home). We also offer tutoring over the summer. Bilingual tutors are a plus (Spanish/English). Our tutoring program is top-notch with many success stories and praise for our tutors that go the extra mile to ensure that our youth thrive. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with accommodations
  • Utilize learning technologies to enhance instruction and engage students
  • Assess student progress and provide timely tutoring session reports
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification or license (or recently retired)
  • Experience working with students, preferably in a classroom setting
  • Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and instructional techniques
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders
