The Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) Program at Virginia Union University seeks a STEM Instructor/Tutor to provide academic support and hands-on STEM instruction to participating scholars. The instructor will provide tutoring support during the academic year and lead STEM instruction during the UBMS Summer Academy. UBMS prepares high school scholars for college success with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
ResponsibilitiesProvide tutoring support in math and/or science to UBMS scholars.
Lead STEM instruction during the UBMS Summer Academy.
Develop and facilitate engaging STEM activities and lessons.
Assist scholars with STEM coursework and academic skill development.
Maintain tutoring attendance records and report scholar progress to the UBMS Director.
Encourage student interest in STEM careers and college pathways.
Participate in program activities and meetings when requested.
EducationBachelors degree in a STEM field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field).Experience teaching or tutoring STEM subjects.
Ability to create engaging STEM learning experiences.
Experience working with high school students.
Experience with TRIO programs or college access programs.
Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
