Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math and science with the ability to tailor their approach to meet the diverse needs of students. This role involves working closely with high school age students, especially Juniors and Seniors, to enhance their understanding of subjects and improve their academic performance. The Student Support Assistant/Tutor is responsible for supporting students' academic success at the high school level, ultimately increasing GEAR UP students' on-time graduation, enrollment, and success in post-secondary education and training. Duties (including but not limited to)
  • One-on-One and small group student support regarding: academic success/tutoring organizational skills and goal setting College Bound Scholarship College and Career exploration
  • Working with cohort students on a post-secondary personalized plan, addressing financial aid, budgeting, and selecting degree programs.
  • Promoting and assisting with College & Career Visits
  • Assist with Planning/Coordinating/Recruiting for field trips for students
  • Provide positive, consistent follow-up with students
  • May travel with students (day trips & overnight)
  • Parent/Family outreach
  • Model academic excellence, integrity, and encourage a positive attitude Required Qualifications
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to initiate and engage students
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Self-directed individual with a strong work ethic and ability to anticipate program needs and respond proactively
  • Understanding and applying good customer service practices Desired Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Can be relied upon to achieve excellent results with little need for oversight
  • Ability to promote and inspire college readiness skills
  • Work as part of a team and support the overall mission of the program
  • Identify and advocate for changes necessary to better meet program needs

$19.64 - $22.07 per hour
