RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SPORTS OFFICIAL

Assists with the overall operations of youth sports programs. Develops positive relationships with participants, coaches, and parents. Assists in the evaluation of programs, maintains accurate records, and distributes information to coaches. Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems. Sets up and maintains a clean playing area. Attends staff meetings and training courses as required. Obtains a substitute supervisor when needed. Supervises one or more sports sites. Enforces rules and regulations. Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making. Communicates effectively with members, peers, volunteers, parents, children, and supervisor. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary. Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers. This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A SPORTS OFFICIAL

: 21 years of age or older. Current state approved first aid certification. Current CPR. Up-to-date knowledge of YMCA guidelines designated for the league. Six months minimum experience in refereeing.
