Job Description

At Amarillo College, our mission is: Transforming our community and economy through learning, innovation, and achievement. Every team member, regardless of job title or duties, is responsible first and foremost, for assisting students in every way. This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Community Youth Development Coach who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for delivering engaging, skill-focused instruction and leadership in designated sports programs for youth ages 10-17. The role emphasizes athletic development, teamwork, discipline, and positive youth engagement in a safe, structured setting. Sports may include basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, cheer, dance, and general fitness. •This is a Grant Funded position. Continued employment is contingent on grant funding. •This position is filled on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
EDUCATION
:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
Some college coursework.
CERTIFICATION
:
Preferred:
First Aid and CPR Certification (or obtained within 90 days).
EXPERIENCE
:
Required:
One (1) year of experience working with youth in a coaching, teaching, or recreational setting. Follow directives from the Head Coach and/or Program Manager. Provide structured instruction in sport-specific skills, drills, and game rules. Organize and oversee competitive play while maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere. Manage large groups of youth participants, reinforcing discipline and sportsmanship. Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to address behavioral challenges. Communicate clear expectations regarding conduct, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Ensure that equipment and activity areas are safe, organized, and well-maintained. Promote physical fitness and personal growth through structured activities. Support the mission and core values of Amarillo College, actively engaging in a culture of caring. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Perform other work-related duties as required. Salary:
Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position. Pay grade 8 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies, sports equipment, and program supplies as needed. Possess the ability to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with students.) Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (No evening, weekend, or holiday hours required.)
