Job Description

Monitor (Youth Sports) Milwaukee Public Schools United States, Wisconsin, Milwaukee 5225 West Vliet Street (Show on map) Jun 25, 2026 Job Summary Youth Sports Monitors are the direct service providers of the youth sports program. They are responsible for maintaining constant surveillance of their assigned area. Monitors float to various areas of the building, stadium, or playfield as needed assisting patrons and maintaining a safe environment. Applicants must be available Saturdays, with some weekday opportunities. Hours are dependent on team registration. The Youth Sports Office is currently looking for Monitors for the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Monitor training will be provided. Position Summary Greet customers and acknowledge their presence whenever possible. Effectively communicate with patrons regarding game locations and other pertinent information. Direct and/or escort customers to the gym, classroom, team only areas, etc. Maintain constant surveillance of assigned area. Model positive language and behavior. Distribute schedule, picture information, certificates and trophies as needed. Immediately report suspicious activities and incidents/accidents to the League Director. Be professional in the workplace, including dress, always. Assist with the staging of pre-game and post-game activities. Follows, administers, and implements all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules. Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual. Have the physical ability to set up/break down sites as needed. Attend any mandatory Monitor trainings. Maintain a safe and organized environment. Complete all other duties as assigned. Supervision Required Works under the direction of the Youth Sports Supervisor and Building/League Director at their assigned work site. Job Requirements Properly attired with Monitor Uniform. Able to meet the scheduling needs required for this position. Behave and appear in fair, consistent, and professional manner. Access to reliable transportation. Ability to attend all

applicable in-service trainings. Preferred Experience Previous work experience in a public setting with a diverse population. 1st Aid/CPR/AED Certifications (training will be provided if needed). Basic knowledge of the sport at their assigned site. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Must be a team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude. Ability to effectively communicate with participants, officials, coaches, patrons, community members, other staff, and support staff. Ability to foster positive working relationships with coworkers and part-time Milwaukee Recreation staff. Ability to participate interactively with a diverse group of youth. Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions. Working Environment This environment includes walking, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and possible loud noises when exposed to activities in the gym or similar environment. Staff will be required to supervise groups of children and adults as well as assist in the accommodation of children and/or adults with disabilities (within parameters of provided training).
